Finest achievement : “Big Mama” (8c+) unrehearsed, Felbertal, Austria.
He began late with sport climbing (1994) but he achieved after the first year the 8b level who was for everyone a sign of his big talent. Since the year 2000 Herbert is doing his sport professional. The first years Herbert climbed mostly abroad. He made fast ascents from difficult routes in Germany, Italy, Slowenia, South Tirol and Austria. Altogether Herbert climbed more than 500 routes in a level 8b and higher. He achieved more than 50 free solos till the level 8b. One of the big moments has been 2006 when Herbert did the route www.Hornhaut.ade in Matrei / Easttirol free solo. The level is 8b. In the hole world there are not many people who achieve that. 2005 , 2006 and 2011 Herbert made three climbing movies with the outdoor filmmakers Gerald Salmina and Günther Göbel ( they did also the movie “Mt St.Elias” with Felix Baumgartner or Axel Naglich who just has been in the cinema). The movies about Herbert has been shown on more than 100 tv-stations and 30 mountain film festivals. In cooperation with Red Bull the result of the movies are timeless and the contents excites a larg public. In the winter Herbert looks often for new rocks or he gives presentations.
More than 50 of his first ascents are still not repeated. A sign of his high level. Herbert is always looking for spectacular lines in the world and with his ambition and his energy he is an example for the young climbing generation.

Most difficult sport climbing route 9a (Licht und Schatten), onsight route 8b+, bouldering 8b, alpine sport climbing 8c, free solo 8b and more than 550 first ascents in hole europe.

Heimspiel 8c clean ascent ,fear and enjoyment together!
Who do you enjoy climbing with?
If the reason thing is safety then i prefer Pöll Franz.
If the reason thing is fun then i prefer our climbing-ladies.
The best memory you have about climbing?
Beautiful Moments are every day,I think the best moment is yet to come!
And the worst?
It doesn’t exist!
What do you like to do when you’re back home after climbing?
Climbing is always and everywhere ,right in the middle there is still my Family,drinking coffee and doing some lectures and that’s it.
What’s your involvement with the Millet design center?
I am testing new Products but I am unfortunately less integrated in the development process.
This would be essential to recognize and avoid mistakes in the phase of development
How do you feel climbing will evolve in the next years?
Cause of the climbing –hall it’s getting more and more an amateur Sport.The Media
Like Tv and internet will make climbing more popular and so it’s getting a higher significance
